By Mark Lacey YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS AS A FIELD When we look at a radio, we understand that the radio does not create the music, but rather, the radio receives the signal. I argue that our consciousness acts as a field, and when we see the brain lighting up and firing off its neurons, what we are seeing is a function of the brain, not the source of our consciousness. In the fields of neuroscience and cognitive science, they still wrestle with understanding where and how consciousness arises. They ...

## The Hidden Power of Sound: Can Music and Frequencies Influence Our DNA? In 1986, Japanese scientist Susumu Ohno made a startling discovery - the four nucleotide bases of DNA correspond to musical notes. By associating cytosine (C) with the note C, guanine (G) with the note G, adenine (A) with the note A, and thymine (T) with the note D, Ohno found he could convert DNA sequencing into melodic musical compositions.  This breakthrough revealed an intrinsic musicality within our genetic code an...
Witness the captivating glimpses of Venus, Earth's celestial twin, showcasing its enigmatic beauty in a way that will leave you in awe.Once deemed Earth's twin due to its similar size and its close proximity, Venus has earned a notorious reputation as the evil sibling of our planetary family. With a wealth of knowledge gathered by scientists, we now understand Venus to be a toxic wasteland, an inferno where heat is trapped in its thick atmosphere due to a runaway greenhouse effect. Surprisingly,...
Geoffrey Hinton was an artificial intelligence pioneer. In 2012, Dr. Hinton and two of his graduate students at the University of Toronto created technology that became the intellectual foundation for the A.I. systems that the tech industry’s biggest companies believe is a key to their future. On Monday, however, he officially joined a growing chorus of critics who say those companies are racing toward danger with their aggressive campaign to create products based on generative artificial intel...

<p>BREATHE<br /> <br /> The moment I heard the opening thump of bass...I knew I would be using this song for my film. But then those haunting vocals hit my ears...and blew my mind. It was like a punch deep in my soul. It's hard to explain that feeling when you first hear a song and you immediately fall in love with it. Almost like you've known it all along.<br /> <br /> I hadn't even planned to start working on this film yet, but I was so inspired that I furiously began to lay down time-lapse clips. I couldn't stop pouring over it. It was last September and I was supposed to be working on Monsoon IV, but I forgot all about it once I heard Ex Makina's "Breathe." It almost felt like it was made for a black and white storm film.<br /> <br /> About halfway through editing, I knew the song title would be my film title as well. It was so perfect I couldn't believe it. Sometimes for me...when I'm chasing or watching an amazing storm...I'll realize I haven't taken a breath in awhile. Never really thought of it until I heard this song.<br /> <br /> I love being inspired by other artists. I love soundtracks. I can't imagine the movie Interstellar without that powerful pipe organ soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. Music is so important to what I do and I'm so incredibly thankful to husband/wife duo Iain and Rebecca Campbell for writing this amazing song. Thanks to the MusicBed as well for having such fantastic musicians and artists.<br /> <br /> In early 2017, I put together a film called Pulse that was my first ever black and white time-lapse movie. It was so different and fun, I wanted to do a follow-up this year before the next chase season begins. Breathe is made up solely of storm clips from 2017...either from the spring across the central plains or from the monsoon here in the southwest. Some are favorites, some are just ones I knew would be amazing in monochrome and others I used because they fit the music so well.  I also went with a wider aspect ratio on these films to give it more of a cinematic feel.<br /> <br /> This is also the first film I've ever done in full 8K resolution. I'm super excited about that. You may not be able to watch it in that resolution, but it's there if you can. Otherwise, 4K is a must if you can!<br /> <br /> I truly hope you enjoy this. For me, I needed something to pass the time and bridge the next few months as I wait for supercells to return to the plains. But honestly, I truly love putting these together. Thanks for all your support in the past and feel free to share!<br /> <br /> Technical Details:<br /> <br /> I used two Canon 5DSR's along with a Canon 11-24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 135mm and Sigma Art 50mm. Manfrotto tripods. The final product was edited in Lightroom with LR Timelapse, After Effects and Premiere Pro.</p>

Biologist Michael Levin Phd.  generously contributed a talk to SEMF's 2022 Spacious Spatiality, which is shared here for One Social members. This is the emerging science that Tuft University's Michael Levin Phd. has discovered to radically rethink evolution and how cells have intelligence, and it is within these electrical blueprints that life is orchestrated. We here at One Social find this particularly fascinating because this work proves that there is a Telos, or goal-oriented purpose, that disproves the evolution theory that evolution is random, when in fact cells have a collective intelligence with a purpose to form. This new research and evidence backs up what metaphysicians have known as well as ancient adepts, such as the Ancient Egyptians, who understood the natural laws of pure nature and the telos that begins before form governed by (AKA Neter). To learn more about how our bodies are truley electric we have posted a an article in One Social News here : https://onesocial.live/news/46/human-bodies-are-electric-bodies-controlling-electric-signals-in-body-can-h/   Talk kindly contributed by Michael Levin Phd. in SEMF's 2022 Spacious Spatiality https://semf.org.es/spatiality TALK ABSTRACT Life was solving problems in metabolic, genetic, physiological, and anatomical spaces long before brains and nervous systems appeared. In this talk, I will describe remarkable capabilities of cell groups as they create, repair, and remodel complex anatomies. Anatomical homeostasis reveals that groups of cells are collective intelligences; their cognitive medium is the same as that of the human mind: electrical signals propagating in cell networks. I will explain non-neural bioelectricity and the tools we use to track the basal cognition of cells and tissues and control their function for applications in regenerative medicine. I will conclude with a discussion of our framework based on evolutionary scaling of intelligence by pivoting conserved mechanisms that allow agents, whether designed or evolved, to navigate complex problem spaces. read our One Social blog on Michael Levin's groundbreaking work at : http://onesocial.live/news/46/human-bodies-are-electric-bodies-controlling-electric-signals-in-body-can-h/ TALK MATERIALS · The Electrical Blueprints that Orchestrate Life (TED Talk): https://www.ted.com/talks/michael_levin_the_electrical_blueprints_that_orchestrate_life · Michael Levin's interviews and presentations: https://ase.tufts.edu/biology/labs/levin/presentations/ · Michael Levin's publications: https://ase.tufts.edu/biology/labs/levin/publications/ · The Institute for Computationally Designed Organisms (ICDO): https://icdorgs.org/ MICHAEL LEVIN Department of Biology, Tufts University: https://as.tufts.edu/biology Tufts University profile: https://ase.tufts.edu/biology/labs/levin/ Wyss Institute profile: https://wyss.harvard.edu/team/associate-faculty/michael-levin-ph-d/ Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Levin_(biologist) Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=luouyakAAAAJ Twitter: https://twitter.com/drmichaellevin LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-levin-b0983a6/ SEMF NETWORKS Website: https://semf.org.es Twitter: https://twitter.com/semf_nexus LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/semf-nexus Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/semf.nexus Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/semf.nexus MUSIC https://www.youtube.com/user/Baroquenoise TIMESTAMPS 00:00:00 INTRODUCTION 00:01:27 All intelligence is collective intelligence 00:03:45 Main points of the talk 00:04:32 Single cell spatial competencies 00:06:19 Outline of the talk 00:06:46 PLASTICITY 00:08:18 Planarian memories survive brain regeneration 00:09:29 Tadpoles can see with artificially implanted eyes 00:10:42 Biological systems have competency in different scales and spaces 00:12:56 Planaria regenerates head with new adaptive gene expression 00:15:06 Technological Approach to Mind Everywhere 00:16:34 INTELLIGENT NAVIGATION IN MORPHOSPACE 00:16:34 Where are anatomy and shape encoded in biology? 00:17:55 Biomedical endgame: anatomical compiler 00:19:01 Unpredictability of anatomy of chimeric species: frogolotls 00:19:59 Hardware and software: analogy between nowadays biology and 40s-50s computer science 00:21:15 What is morphospace? 00:23:26 Examples of natural regeneration 00:25:15 Cells change molecular mechanisms to adapt shape to artifical constraints 00:27:05 Induced frog leg regenration takes different path than default limb development 00:28:08 Facial mispatterning in tadpoles still ends in normal frog faces 00:29:36 Feedback loops in pattern homeostasis and goal-directedness 00:31:34 BIOELECTRICITY 00:31:38 Usual example of bioelectricity explaining goal-directedness: the brain 00:32:49 Generalizing: non-brain tissues also encode goals through bioelectricity 00:34:36 Reading and writing electrical information in non-brain tissues 00:35:29 Reading #1: “electric face” before face development 00:36:45 Reading #2: electric signature before tumor development 00:37:12 Writing electrical information in non-brain tissues using neuroscience tools 00:38:12 Writing #1: inducing voltage patterns that develop organs and limbs 00:40:16 Writing #2: inducing limb regeneration 00:42:08 Writing #3: inducing anatomical memory that produces two-headed planaria when injured 00:47:01 Writing #4: inducing shape changes 00:48:36 Developing quantitative, predictive models 00:49:27 Writing #5: correcting brain defects using model predictions 00:51:14 Electroceutical drugs 00:52:09 TECHNOLOGICAL APPROACH TO MIND EVERYWHERE 00:52:18 Different scales of biological systems have different goals 00:55:00 Potential application to reverse cancer 00:55:48 Diversity of intelligences 00:57:16 Multi-scale control and up-scaling goals across spaces 00:59:01 Behavior of skin cells clusters when isolated: xenobots 01:07:15 Overview of the Technological Approach to Mind Everywhere 01:08:00 The space of intelligent agents and its implications for ethics
